Padilla House

Address: San Miguel de Tucumán, 25 de Mayo 36.
This house dates from around 1870, it is remarkable because of the treatment of the facade with pilasters, cornice and wrought iron railings which are the most outstanding characteristics of Italian architecture. These were the special architectural traits which were determinant for its preservation over the years.

It belonged to Governor José Frías, who divided the house into two parts and handed them over to his two children during his lifetime. Thus Doña Lastenta Frías de Padilla settled there with his husband, Angel Cruz Padilla, the city mayor. Padilla's descendants donated the original furniture of the house, thanks to which a furniture museum could be created with a setting capable of transmitting an idea of what the interior of houses was like during the past century.
